Interested candidates should send a cover letter, CV, and a 1-2 page research summary to Prof. Obermeyer.

Ph.D. Students

Prospective graduate students interested in pursuing research at the intersection of protein engineering, materials science, and chemical biology should apply to the Columbia Department of Chemical Engineering graduate program. Current graduate students in the Department of Chemical Engineering interested in interdisciplinary training in polymer science and biomaterials should reach out to set up a meeting.

Masters Students

Prospective students with a background in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, or chemical engineering interested in pursuing a M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering - particularly with a concentration in Biotechnology and Biopharmaceuticals should apply to the Columbia Department of Chemical Engineering M.S. program. Current graduate students in this program interested in research in protein and polymer engineering, or more broadly in biotechnology, should contact Prof. Obermeyer using the form below. However, we often have more interest than open positions. If there is a position available, we will reach out to set up an initial meeting to determine if our lab will be a good fit. Strong preference for placement will be given to students that fill the form out prior to November 1st.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students who are excited about gaining research experience at the interface between chemistry, biology, and polymer science should contact Prof. Obermeyer using the form below. However, we often have more interest than open positions. If there is a position available, we will reach out to set up an initial meeting to determine if our lab will be a good fit. Students already in the group that are interested in working in the group over the summer should contact Prof. Obermeyer no later than January 31st. This will ensure that funding can be secured for your summer internship in the group.
